Hello judy0629 Virtual memory has nothing to do with how much hard drive space you have. It is concerned with the system memory RAM is also known as "Primary Memory". Virtual Memory (also known as Secondary Memory or Page Memory) is used in place of Primary Memory, but only if there is no Primary Memory available at the time. So virtual memory is used when the system is running short of RAM How much RAM do you have installed? XP really needs 512MB, but likes 1GB even better You could try increasing your Virtual memory Go here and find out how to access the virtual memory settingscheck the size of the page file (virtual memory) Step #2 How to manually change the size of the virtual memory paging file shows you how to change the size. Make sure it is at least 1.5 times the amount of RAM installed. Also make the minimum and maximum values the same It may be that you need to install more RAM .

Is it several times higher than the second one on the list? then chances are that it is not behaving correctly.If possible get a later version of that program and try out.Make sure that your page file is atleast 1.5 times RAM as said above.MaxSumesh

Hello Judy0629I had this problem after installing IE7.In my case it was caused by certain "add-ons" running in internet explorer. The VM size used byinternet explorer increases every time you open a new tab, new page etc. It just kept getting bigger until you get get the message that windows is increasing your VM size.If everything is working correctly then you should see the VM size increasind and decreasing depending on how many tabs/pages you have open.If you open the "Manage Add-ons" in "tools" you can dissable individual add-ons until you find the culprit.
